The association of the companies D-WASTE and GET, successfully completed the implementation of the project “Update and monitoring of the WASTEATLAS e-platform for the visualization and monitoring of waste management infrastructures” of the operation entitled: “Supporting agencies for the maturation and effective implementation of operations” with the Contracting Authority of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
The scope of the contract was to upgrade and expand the capabilities of the Hellenic Solid Waste Management Atlas (HSWMA). The provision of aggregated data, saving time when searching for and presenting data on solid waste management at local and regional level are key benefits of the operation of HSWMA. In this context, it was considered necessary to update the data, expand the operational capabilities of the system and develop new functions.
With the implementation and completion of the project, a common operational picture is provided to the officers of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, interconnection with other existing databases (e.g., Electronic Waste Register) but also transparent availability of updated data to the public, professionals and agencies. With the upgraded system in full operation, the procedures for providing information to stakeholders have been automated, providing modern e-government tools that accelerate procedures and ensure transparency.
Upon completion of the project, the Agency has at its disposal a state-of-the-art system, achieving savings by valorizing mature and reliable open-source technologies.
