GET signed a new contract with the Hellenic Center for Marine Research for the “Provision of software development services“. More specifically, in the framework of the project’s, the following will be implemented:
- The expansion of the database model, so as to provide access to specific categories of primary measurement data that will be indicated by HCMR.
- The development of the middleware services, where the network services provided by the INSPIRE directive, i.e., view services, discovery services, transformation services and download services will be implemented.
- The same level contains all the software modules that will be developed by GET and are related to the communication with the Data Submission Repository, as well as the functions of extracting primary data.
- The development of web applications, where the interfaces through which users gain access to data and metadata will be implemented.
The implementation of the project is carried out within the framework of the actions of the Sub-project (1) “Sampling and analyzes of biotic and abiotic parameters of the marine ecosystem with the aim of determining the Good Ecological Status” of the Action: “Monitoring and recording the state of the marine sub-regions of Greece/Upgrading and operational update of the monitoring network” with OPS code MIS: 5010880 version: 1.0.
More specifically, GET will be involved, in cooperation with HCMR, in the implementation of Work Package 7 (WP7): Information System Organization. The work package concerns the creation of the necessary infrastructure for the registration, storage and management of data from the implementation of the environmental monitoring programs of the Hellenic seas. As part of the implementation of the project, GET will also develop a data submission repository subsystem. The repository will be used by identified users to submit data related to the marine environment. The implementation of the project will be based on and will utilize the existing Free Software / Open-Source Software(FOSS) with which the existing information systems hosted in the computing infrastructures of HCMR have been developed.
