GET in collaboration with JGC SA successfully implemented the project of the Municipality of Heraklion, which concerns the supply of special civil protection equipment for risk management.
The mission of the platform developed is to help in crisis situations due to disasters, through the effective use of information and communication technologies. The platform was based on Free Software – Open-Source technology at its core and more specifically in the vertical application offered by GET for Smart City “e-XENOKRATIS for risk & crisis management” and aims to create a comprehensive solution to support civil protection actors involved in emergencies and crisis situations.
The basic subsystems of the integrated crisis management system procured were:
- Crisis management platform
- Expansion of existing geospatial information infrastructure
- Unmanned aerial vehicles
- Field Data Recording Software
With the supply and installation of the necessary IT equipment (hardware and software) all stakeholders of the Municipality of Heraklion have access to a common operational picture, as well as to the tools for collaborative management of human resources, infrastructure and equipment.
