GET, as a pioneer in business intelligence solutions, open data exploitation and environmental informatics, leverages and reveals open data of Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) through the development of an interactive web application.
HNMS, via its website (http://www.emy.gr) provided free raw data regarding climate conditions (every 6 hours) for 21 meteorological stations all over the country and regarding 30 years (1975-2005). These data are a valuable source of meteorological/climate information, since they correspond to a wide time frame and they spatially cover all the country (mainland and island)
Leveraging technical capacity in data analytics, GET offers an interactive and user friendly web environment for data view and analysis.
The user can view data on a map or/and in charts/diagrams format. Moreover, the user may interact with these data selecting also the time period setting specific hours of the day used for calculating statistical figures or the meteorological station. In this way, users (researchers, academic community, agencies, citizens) have the capacity to understand the spatio-temporal evolution of meteorological parameters as well as to to understand the trends related to global environmental problems. For example the climate change which is displayed through the application with temperature increase presented by the the time series of all weather stations.
The application is available at GET’s website.
