GET under of the project “Design and Implementation of a Geographical Information System for Manufacturing Activity in the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki” for the Region of Central Macedonia, Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki, which undertook and completed successfully, in cooperation with AKKT Consulting Engineers, designed and developed the vertical application for Electronic Management of Licensing Requests.

GET in the context of the implementation of the project “DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION CONCERNING THE PROCESSING ACTIVITY, with the designed and developed the vertical application for Electronic Management of Licensing Requests.

The aim of this application was to create a modern web application for the management of licensing applications submitted to the Department of Environment, Energy Industry & Natural Resources of the Region of Central Macedonia. The use of the application facilitates the internal processes of the service, but also provides advanced electronic services to those interested. The application allows the management of the entire life cycle of licensing applications, from their submission to their approval. In addition, it enables the emergence of specialized reports, which enhances the analysis process, and thus supports the planning and decision-making process by the Management.

The main subsystems of the application are:

• Access permissions unit: This unit manages system users. Professionals can register on the platform so that they can then use it for online licensing applications. The certification of the users is done by the competent employees of the service
• Application unit: This unit aims at professionals who apply for licensing for processing units. Accessing the application requires an authentication process. Those interested after successfully entering the application can:
  • Apply for a license
  • Review data imposed at a previous time and modify / supplement in accordance with the suggestions and comments that may have arisen from the evaluation of the application by the service.
  • They are informed about the progress and the progress of their application
• Requests review unit: This unit is addressed to the executives of the Department who are responsible for the evaluation of requests. Entering the application again requires the use of an authentication mechanism. More specifically, the users of the service have the following possibilities:
  • Summary overview of requests submitted.
  • Thematic search for information on documents / decisions / administrative acts and diagrams
  • Visualization on a cartographic background of business positions. Possibility of applying a filter. Ability to display positions with different symbols (thematic map) based on the details of the company or the status of the application.
  • Modification of the status of requests (eg under consideration, additional data pending, approval, rejection, etc.). In this case, users receive notification both on the system and by email.

It is noted that in case of approval of a request, the final signatory using his digital signature produces the signed file of the license, which is sent according to the procedures of the service but is also posted on the system.
